If you are a victim of crime

You have the right to a lawyer who protects your interests and claims the compensation you are entitled to. In cases of sexual offences, domestic violence and serious violent crime, the court appoints a lawyer for you and the state pays the fee, regardless of your income. In other cases, the costs are usually covered by the legal expenses insurance included in your home insurance, or by legal aid.

• representing you in court
• applying for compensation from the State Treasury (Valtiokonttori) if the offender does not pay

Children and young people

When a child or young person is the victim of a crime, I represent them in the police investigation and in court and claim the compensation they are entitled to. When the guardian cannot impartially protect the child’s interests, the court appoints a substitute guardian (edunvalvojan sijainen). I act as a substitute guardian for children and young people in criminal cases. The state pays the fee.

Language and interpreter

I work in Finnish and English. In criminal cases, the police and the court arrange an interpreter free of charge. Ask for an interpreter for police interviews and court hearings.

Fees

When the state or insurance does not cover the costs, the hourly fee is €250 + VAT 25.5% (€313.75).
